百花の王　King of the Hundred Flowers

“それ牡丹は百花の王にして、獅子は百獣の長とかや・・・”

ご存じ、長唄『連獅子』冒頭に唄われる牡丹の花。

我が家の牡丹は、王の名には似つかわしくない、どちらかというと可憐な姿。

この家に越して以来、２年に１度、１つか２つ花をつけるだけだったが、

１４回目の春、５輪の花が咲きました。

"The peony is king of the hundred flowers, the lion is boss of the hundred beasts."・・・

Nagauta 『Renjishi』sings about the Poeny this way.

The peony in our yard doesn't seem like that. Very cute.

Since we moved in this house, every 2 years, 1 or 2 flowers bloomed.

The14th spring, 5 flowers have bloomed.
